Our Curriculum
We understand that students need multiple opportunities to learn and retain information. Therefore our instructors provide a variety of methods to build knowledge and skills in each student that will last a life time. We understand that students learn by doing. Our learning is active. Students work at their desk, students work at the board, students’ work where they feel comfortable and are able to produce quality work.

Math
Our mathematics lessons allow students to learn multiple methods to solve problems. We do not follow a one way only to get the answer. Our Eureka Math curriculum allows are students to use manipulative tools, illustrations, technology, and repetition to master concepts and retaining information.

English/ Language Arts
Upon completing three years at our school, students will have an understanding of English Language Arts with the ability to communicate and comprehend verbal, reading, and writing in the English. The Wit and Wisdom curriculum that we use allows our students to foster a love of reading for pleasure, research, public speaking, or vocation. Our students write daily using the grammatical skills and critical thought from sources such as text books, magazines, newspapers, or scriptural texts. Students will be able to apply their new knowledge with the ability to write rich responses with clear evidence. Our students will gain the knowledge to read, write and communicate clear and effectively.

Science
Children’s natural curiosity allows them to build knowledge through scientific exploration, discovery, hands-on learning, and inquiry. We make science make sense to students through hands-on projects, science experience, questioning, investigation, and through the work of our creator.

Social Studies
Providing authentic history and social studies lessons allow our students to understand and learn from the past. Students learn geography, land forms, and the people connected to these areas. Our students explore regions by studying the language, food, habitats, contributions made by indigenous groups. These lessons support an understanding, respect and compassion for all of humanity. Our school is also a safe place for students to share their culture, ethnic group, race and faith without shame or embarrassment. Through guest speakers, fieldtrips, projects, and presentations, the world comes through Sunshine Learning Academy.

Specials
Our specials classes help bring a higher understanding to all the other subjects. Art, music, physical education, and technology lessons coincide with all the core subjects. This method allows students to grasp and retain information from diverse sources.

Islam
Saving the best for last is our religious component. Our students learn the Arabic language beginning in kindergarten. Students beginning in kindergarten should have a working knowledge of Arabic within four years of instruction at SLA. The second component is Islamic studies. Students will learn Islamic prayers, history, and etiquette. These classes will be held daily, except on Friday. Students that complete our Islamic program will have a genuine love and respect for Islam and for being Muslim. Our classes are taught with love for the children and the faith. All students must attend Jummah prayer on Fridays. Parents must pick their children up immediately after Jummah.
